something calls out to you ...

Β« I felt the heat burn up the road, Β»

Ori grew up within the mountains of Aldenard, just upon the outskirts of Ala Mhigo. He lived a modest but kind life, having spent his growing days scaling the mountains and taking notes in the art of spagyrics from his mother, who would take patients from the townsfolk further down the mountainside. These experiences inspired him to become a doctor, and he found great joy in helping others. Those aspirations were all but forgotten during the invasion of the Empire, around his 15th summer. Ori's father was soon dragged off to join the fray, never to be heard from again. His mother would spend the rest of her years in grief and plotting revenge. Slipping home brewed poisons into the rations of the Garleans who made themselves familiar within their home, she paid the ultimate price for her actions, leaving Ori to further atone in her stead.Heartbroken, alone, and yet determined to see their wishes come true, Ori took it upon himself to see that their home be saved from the hands of the Empire. Eventually caught in his acts of rebellion and taken prisoner within Garlemald, Ori spent countless years fighting back against his treatment. Despite the trauma hes come to endure, his spirit never waveredβ€”finding hope in liberation and the dawn of a better future. Thanks to Radovan and the commotion he caused trying to escape the gaols, Ori was able to join he and Sophie in escaping to Gridania. He recouperated with them for a time, and through them, met Thancred. The two trained under Radovan in the way of the Gunbreaker, until it came time to depart and Ori would set his sights right back to the Garlean-overrun captial of Ala Mhigo. He joined the Reistance in earnest, reuniting with Thancred and his friends when their attention turns to the war effort.

Β« And where it lead, I wouldn't know Β»

Oris rides along with each victory and loss that they endure, all in hopes of regaining his country, until his prayers are answered and Ala Mhigo is freed from the claws of the Empire. Nevertheless, victory is shortlived as other threats quickly give way to them, and he does not hesitate as he throws himself into the fray once more.Along with Thancred, Ori is called by a voice and is swept away to the First midst the battlefield. Having found himself in Amh Araeng, Ori took quickly to the daily lives of those who took care at the Inn at Journey's Head. He held great concern over the patients there, and put his best effory in figuring out some type of medicine that may slow the turning process. His attention eventually moved toward the Crystarium, where heβ€”to his surpriseβ€”reunited with Thancred once again, and met with the Exarch. The two tanks agree to work together in the years spent before the rest of the Scions are called onto the First, and in that time, Ori hones his skills in wielding the Gunblade, officially putting down his sword and shield in favor of the weapon. In some three odd years, other Scions find themselves within Novrandt, until the WoL arrives and the group are all called together. Ori puts his hand in to their efforts of seeing this shard be saved from the light.

Β« We have no fear, we're fully grown Β»

All seemed to be going apace until events in Rak'tika urged the Scions to call on Emet-Selch for help. While the rest of the group rushed to Y'shtola's side, the Ascian calls for Ori's attention.Away from prying eyes, Emet places a single finger upon Ori's temple, drawing forth a curious lightβ€”so intense and overwhelming with memories, both unknown and yet familiar to him, that he faints almost immediately. The two are taken into a portal, and Ori goes missing with none the wiser save the man who did it.Where Ori travels, he is unsure... as he wakes, it isn't even Orisis himself that controls his body. It finds itself within the depths of a city found at sea, and as if another has taken over, it walks through its streets and halls with familiarity and a sense of duty to protect it.The scions are acutely aware of Ori's absence, but with no leads to trace, they continued forward. It is not until the Scions find their way through Emet-Selch's memories of the Sundering that they run into a figure that seems to resemble their lost friend. It declares itself the name Mikael, and goes on the attack in one last attempt at protecting Amaurot's citizens of the Final Days.Mikael retreats just moments before defeat, and many are sure that the figure is Orisis. But there are more pressing matters at hand, and the group tucks away their thoughts as they turned to confront Hades in a decisive battle for all of Novrandt.

Β« Been a long year, I'll see you back home Β»

Unable to trace their friend's whereabouts in the aftermath, the group pressed on, having decided to tackle the dilemma of returning home to the Source, and figuring out how to deal with the last of the unsundered, Elidibus.A trip back to Amaurot and access to Anamnesis Anyder not only reveals the true identity of Elidibus, but of Mikael as well... an Amaurotine who gave himself away to the experimentation of creation magic, the appointed Archangel acted as a guardian to Amaurot, and died protecting it in its last moments. Reborn as their friend Orisis, Emet had reawakened those memories in him, causing the party to defeat the angel once more before calling out to Ori in an attempt to bring him back to reality. While successful and Ori had come back to consciousness, he could not shake the feeling that he may drown again in his own memories and lose control. As the group travels back home to the Source, Ori is asked to help Bozja in their war effort, to which he accepts. It is through Mikoto, Misija, and events of the weapons project in Werylt that he comes to learn about White Auracite and its synthetic counterparts. It comes to his attention that, possibly, he could create or siphon his memories into an auracite, in so that he may no longer risk the chance of losing himself, as well as possibly use Mikael's power the same way Misija has been able to with the Queen Gunnhildr. He works together with Mikoto and Cid on a side project which may allow him to do so, hoping that these new, old-found memories and power may help them in the future.

RELATIONSHIPS Thancred The Scion he trusts the most, the two have known each other since ARR. They flow into a natural rhythm together in battle, and have worked together in the years prior to WOL landing in Novrandt. Radovan/Sophie The three of them, together, made a break for it to Gridania. He sees his parents in the two, just a bit. Radovan mentors both Thancred and Ori around the same time in the way of the Gunbreaker, though Ori does not officially pick it up until some time later.Ryne/Gaia Ori sympathizes strongly with the two girls and their struggles with identity. He sees them as his nieces (Thancred's their father, of course) and supports them wholeheartedly in whatever they choose to do.Granson β™‘ With similar experiences, Orisis sees himself in Granson, and tries to prevent him from making the same mistakes. Having grown close, Orisis can sometimes be seen accompanying him on the First.

A'vett Veitka β™‘ Ori ran into a lost hunter from the source during his time in Norvrandt, eventually finding out he was part of the Scions. The two quickly hit it off, finding familiarity in each other on an unfamiliar star. Ori passes on his knowledge of sword and shield fighting to A'vett; and it was A'vett that was able to return Ori to himself.Som'a Alden Ori's closest friend and occasional cotank. Ori helped him back on his feet when he needed it most. They share common ground, and always have each other's backs.Mikh'a Dhaigan The WoL in one of Ori's canons. After rescuing him from the hands of Zenos, the two grow close. Ori accompanies Mikh'a around Eorzea as he recuperates in the aftermath of the Royal Menagerie.< HOLE > An FC he is unofficially a member of. He is acquaintances with many of its members.

PERSONALITYOrisis often leaves many with an impression of a man that while intimidating, has many qualities of a leader. This intimidating aura is largely one not out of fear, but of admiration. His experience with the Ala Mhigan Resistance allowed him to hone his skills in leadership, and many find him trustworthy, reliable, determined, and compassionate.Despite this, Ori is truly a rather taciturn person, and chooses not to readily socialize with others. He is quiet, contemplative, rational, and reserved. He is anxious around children and worries if he comes off as awkward or rigid around them.Orisis is a loyal, devout man when it comes to his friends, family, and sense of justice. He is extremely action-oriented, considerate of others and often helps those in need without hesitation. He is not quick to lose hopeβ€”willingly throwing himself into the fray for the dream of a better future. Ori often has a way of easing a person's fears, and is easily someone to count on in times of trouble. One could easily understand his true intent and emotions with a look of his eyes.

CLASSESPALADIN PREARR-STB. Ori trained in tanking while within Garlemald and conscripted into their army. Ironically to the Empire, he continues to use this class after escaping to fight against them.βš” GUNBREAKER SHB-CURRENT. Despite being taught by Radovan the same time as Thancred, Ori does not hone his skills with the weapon until the two reunite in Novrandt. He grows to love the rush of fighting with gunblades, and eventually puts down his shield in favor of them.DARK KNIGHT SHB-CURRENT. Ori comes to take on the mantle of dark knight soon after regaining his memories as an ancient. However, he does not use black mana.. instead, his blade is imbued by the white mana blessed to him through his auracite.SAGE SHB-CURRENT. Another class he remembers through his past life. The power given to him through his auracite moreso goes into his abilities as sage, and his nouliths remind him of his wings.BOTANIST/ALCHEMIST PreARR-Now. Orisis has a bit of a brain for spagyrics, influenced by his mother. He hones this particular skill of his and continues it into his adult years.

HOOKS✧✧✧✧✧✧

MIKAEL, THE ARCHANGEL

He/Him, It/Its | DARK KNIGHT + SAGE

Mikael was an amaurotine unlike the others that dwelled within Amaurot. Giving his body and soul into the research of creation magic, he was given wings and deemed the title of "Archangel," the first of very few who would soon follow him.The strength of his magic and physical prowess made him the perfect candidate to guard the city and its people from danger. He was lead of many groups that would serve to protect the safety and order of the streets of Amaurot.Serving under a particular researcher, he was also tasked with overseeing subjects created through magic, including himself. If any were to go berserk, with no chance of salvation, he would answer to end their suffering. As buildings fell and the skyline bloomed red in flames, it was Mikael who stood tall in the face of fate, standing guard over the city and its people as the Final Days marked their end. As his soul returned to the lifestream, its memories of tragedy lay forgotten in the warmth and love of a couple in Aldenard...

something calls out to you ...

Β« Are you waiting for somebody else to move? Β»

The Clan Kirigumi are a group of mix-matched individuals who reside within the remote mountains of Dirbenc, Bozja. The clan is home to those who share memories of distant a city, a star, unlike any location found on Etheirys. Through their help, it is revealed that these memories were indeed a reality β€” the remnants of a life in the city of Amaurot and the Old World of Etheirys. They walk closely with the teachings of Mother Hydaelyn, and are led by the Father of the Kirigumi family, who are a bloodline of mixed Lupin and Hrothgar.Such memories are precious, and its recollection in an individual dictate they have served a greater cause. Many who join the Clan recall being followers or even voluntary sacrifices to the Ancient Venat, who split their Old World into 14 Reflections, and went on to become the present day Mother Hydaelyn. In reverence to Hydaelyn, and perhaps as thanks for her gift of a second chance at life, members of the Clan ultimately serve as protectors to the order of Aether and life upon the Source Reflection. This collective pool of life energy is known as the Aetherial Sea, and its flow was referred to as the River Styx.Orisis Kirigumi is the eldest son of the Clan Father, and he too, have memories of this past. As a key shard of the being Kerberos, Orisis is the Gatekeeper of the River Styx. This strong connection gave him a unique ability: the boy could seamlessly transform into a large, midnight blue canine. This form would seem almost deformed, with its sets of large, gnashing teeth, sharp overgrown claws, and most notably, 3 large heads. This role of Gatekeeper has ever been constant, regardless of time: Orisis is the last line of defense between the realm of the living, the realm of the dead, and keeps either soul from crossing between realms.

Β« Don't you know in your heart, Β»

The Clan Kirigumi strove to keep a low profile, but despite their efforts, it was not long that the Empire's further conquest of Bozja led them scattered, captured, and astray. Ori was one such captured individual. The Empire took a quick liking to him. His status and abilities rendered him a valuable asset β€” one that led him into the throne room. Brought before the Founding Emperor, Orisis understood: this soul was his Master Hades.Obedience came naturally to him. There was no denying his Master, and Orisis found himself at the heel of the royal family as their personal servant.Hades, however, did not ask much of him. Orisis continued to act as Gatekeeper, frequently sent out in the aftermath of war to assess damages, loss, and to formally send souls off to rest. These assessments would also serve the boy's personal objectives. He would also be able to identify if any victims or casualties of war were that of his Clanmates as well. Despite under the command of the Empire, Orisis never stopped acting in best interest to his purpose, even if met with consequences. It was in Ala Mhigo that such one such assessment had one awry. Ambushed by the Ala Mhigan Resistance, Orisis was forced to flee, which both injured him and severed him from contact with the Empire. He eventually awoke in the care of a lavender-haired Miqo'te. The boy was clearly Ala Mhigan, taking care of the enemy, yet Orisis saw no signs of hostility.. only concern for his wounds. Perhaps the boy did not sense any danger or ill intent from him in turn. This, was true: Orisis had never drawn blood for nor against the Empire's name, and had no intention of ever doing so. His only concern were to track down his Clanmates, and to continue preserving the flow of the River Styx. For a few days longer Orisis stayed with this rather naΓ―ve boy before he took him to meet the Scions of the Seventh Dawn, ultimately wrapping Orisis into the fold of the Warriors of Light.

Β« Is the power to change everything? Β»

The journey alongside the Scions proved to be much more worthwhile than continuing by the Empire's side. With them, Orisis begun to travel to lands further than the Empire's reach, which allowed him a broader search for his Clanmates. His travels alongside the Warrior of Light also allowed him to act in the aftermath of their choices β€” be it a mercy for life, or otherwise. It was clear that a person such as them were far greater than who they appear to be, and Orisis continued to follow in their path in curiosity. In traveling to the First Reflection, Orisis would cross paths with Hades once more. Hades' plans of Rejoinings had shocked him, as such acts directly went against his duty as Gatekeeper.. yet, these plans had come from his Master himself. What were he to do? What seemed right? In re-learning about Zodiark and Hydaelyn in the Rak'tika Greatwood, it had also helped him to remember of his life in the current, post sundered world of Etheirys, and of his current family. These factors would cause the boy to question himself and his values as developments dragged on.This inner conflict would come to a head during the final battle between Hades and the Scions. Given a choice, Orisis chose to preserve the present and future, pitting against his Master with a heavy heart. It would not be until one final encounter with Hades while against the Ascian Elidibus that Orisis had come to understand that his choice, although heart-wrenching, was for the best.In crossing paths with the Endsinger, would Orisis think about the lives of all of Etheirys once more: in a world of depression, pain, and sadness.. there is hope.Upon learning of Pandaemonium, Orisis would seek out the companionship of his Master's former colleagues, and return to Elpis.

PERSONALITYOrisis is very resolute and steadfast, yet also on that same vein, extremely morally gray. His purpose as Gatekeeper of the River Styx has been rooted in him for as long as he's known, and he holds to these values no matter the cost. He is only meant to monitor the river's flow β€” whether such a soul were pure or tainted were entirely disregarded in their journey to the Aetherial Sea.He often forgoes the thought of morality in many situations due to this. For example, despite the Empire's reputation, attack against his clan, as well as their treatment of him, no such resentments developed or held value over him. However, Orisis is not without compassion. In traveling with the Scions and Warrior of Light, he has come to care for their safety, keeping a silent eye upon the group and backing them up in battle where necessary. He shows extreme reluctance when felling Hades.Orisis can be mysterious and standoffish at first appearance, however, he is simply rather taciturn and unaccustomed to company. He can be stern and authoritative when speaking, usually having something important to say or issuing commands. There are rarely few who have seen him in a weakened or vulnerable state. He may warm up to those who can get past his intimidative persona. He is very good with children. While he does not readily express it, Orisis gains an arc of emotional growth in following the Scions.. he becomes an anchoring force for many, has a way of easing a person's fears, and is easily someone to count on in times of trouble.

CLASSESβš” GUNBREAKER βš” A classic route among those who hail from Bozja, it is only natural that Orisis had taken up the Gunblade. His strikes are quick and methodical, yet to the untrained eye, seems chaotic. It is his main class.DARK KNIGHT βš” He picks up the class in the aftermath of the fight with Hades. In memory of his Master.WARRIOR βš” Also in the aftermath of Hades, Orisis picks up the axe in honor of Ardbert, sensing that the shards of Azem have not at all changed from the past.REAPER βš” A class which mains the scythe, reminiscent of the weapons commanded by Kerberos prior to the Sundering. Unlike traditional Reapers who seek the power of a pact provided by a Voidsent, Orisis channels his power as Kerberos, and partly shifts into his Jaguar form while in DPS burst.

TRIVIAβš” Orisis wears a ring on a chain around his neck, often hidden under his clothes. This crown-shaped ring is a family heirloom and functions as a wedding ring.βš” As someone who hails from several backgrounds, he has big cat and wolf-like features, such as snaggletooth canines (longer than Miqo'te), a Hrothgar's tail, and paw beans.βš” His inspiration comes from existing characters such as Trevor Belmont, SilverAsh, Lon'qu, Wolf O'Donnell, and Hua Cheng.βš” Kerberos is another name for Cerberus.βš” Orisis cannot handle his alcohol, and becomes much less emotionally guarded after a few drinks.βš” He is often seen wearing a large fur coat. His eyes have a soft, icy blue glow.βš” He has 2 younger siblings, whom both admire their older brother. They consider themselves the "other heads of Kerberos".βš” Despite his appearance, he is easy to embarrass.βš” "He is literally shadow with a hint of knuckles" - Salami Pestrami

KERBEROS, THE HOUND OF RIVER STYX

It/Its | REAPER

As Gatekeep of the River Styx, Kerberos was tasked by its Master Hades to keep a watchful eye upon the souls that interact with its gates.Kerberos was neither good nor evil in nature, but rather simply a working dog. The hound prevented the living from entrance, prevented the dead from escape, and acted upon Hades' commands as its dog.If one where to trespass the Gates of Styx, it will become their Judge, Jury, and Executioner. As with most others after the sundering, Kerberos' soul would become fragmented. A rather key sum of it would go on to be rebirthed by Mother Hydaelyn.
